The non-slip surfaced lorry park is of a substantial size to allow even the largest of lorries to be turned round easily. It is safe with a non-slip surface and is fully enclosed.

A fenced off loading area into which a horsebox can be backed, creates an ‘alley-way’ for younger or inexperienced horses to be loaded with ease.

The reception is a clean, warm and comfortable place for you to wait whilst procedures are being carried out. Nixon Equine Vets practice equine veterinary clinic is totally ‘disable friendly’ throughout.

The yard is a clean and professional area for your horse to be examined in hand; it is flat so ideal for viewing walking and trotting. It is also the ideal surface for Equinalysis.

There are 3 recovery boxes at Nixon Equine Vets, each being well lit with heat lamps and rubber flooring. Each box is power hosed and disinfected between horses.

Safe, well lit bays with moulded rubber floors provide an ideal farriery area, with easy access to the horse and farrier's van parked adjacent.  Farriers can take advantage of the flat trot up yard before and after work, view x-rays, thermographs and equinalysis in the adjacent consultation room.

Exam room 1 is a spacious 7.3m x 3.5m x 2.7m with a rubber moulded floor that is power hosed and disinfected after each horse, and equipped with power, telephone and computer points. It is well lit, with an even light supply above the horse.
It is large enough for stocks with collapsible sides and no overhead barriers, providing ease of access to the horse from both sides.
It also has a periodontal dental unit, a dedicated AI suite with adjacent frozen semen store and laboratory, plus a surgical dioxide laser suite for the treatment of skin lesions.

Exam room 2 is 5.5m X 4m X 3m is well lit and also has a moulded rubber floor, power, telephone and computer points. It is a tall room with no low rafters and a wide doorway provides easy access and safety.
Exam room 2 is large enough to look around the horse with ease for a thorough, full examination. It is used for initial clinical work, examining the back and pelvic area as well as more routine distal limb and foot examinations. It is also the exam room used for emergency cases as it is just 3 strides from the horsebox.

Exam room 3 measures 7.3m X 3.5m X 2.7m. This room is immaculate with a moulded rubber floor, overhead symmetrical lighting, telephone and computer points, plus stocks.
This is the major imaging room, other than radiography, and houses the thermographic camera with large TV recorder, video gastroscope, 2 endoscopes for upper and lower respiratory tract work, 2 state of the art ultrasound scanners for all soft tissue work, focused powerful shockwave equipment with hoist for treating the back, neck and jaw.

Our on-site laboratory can provide a full blood picture in just 15 minutes. It also provides for correct, heat controlled, clean storage of electronic instruments, plus fridge and freezer storage for medical samples and an autoclave for equipment sterilisation.

The very large x-ray room is completely lead lined to provide a safe area for equine x-ray.  It is routinely inspected to comply with Health and Safety regulations required to house our state of the art digital x-ray machine .

Our quiet, private client consult room provides time for discussion on each case with owners. Digital radiography, ultrasound, equinalysis, thermography and gastroscopy images can be viewed and discussed and/or made available on CD or via email. An equine skeleton allows for comparative purposes.

A unique 20 metre circle and straight line area allows for trotting up on a prepared limestone surface for deep going.

A 40 X 60 metre all weather well lit arena which never freezes is available for clinical examination of the ridden horse.

The in patient yard has large, safe well ventilated boxes with separate shut off areas for food and bedding stores. It is fully enclosed and so very safe.

Extensive paddocks allow for clinical examination on a perfect grass surface under saddle and on the lunge and also safe turnout areas for in-patients.
