Pre-purchase Vetting :: Nixon Equine Vets
Nixon Equine Vets has a particular interest in the pre-purchase examination “vetting”, in terms of assessing the veterinary suitability of the horse for the owner’s requirements, with a special emphasis on correct conformation.
Why choose us to vet your new horse
- Nixon Equine Vets have a long history of in-depth examination of horses for purchase. Stewart Hastie MRCVS began lecturing on this subject in the early 1970’s to final year students of the Royal Veterinary College and from 1980 onwards Jane Nixon has performed stallion and mare grading for many Sports Horse Societies. For the British Equestrian Veterinary Association (BEVA) worksheet which outlines the principles of the pre-purchase examination which we undertake in this practice, please visit www.beva.org.uk.
Pre-purchase vetting at Nixon Equine Vets equine veterinary clinic
- We have excellent facilities for the examination of horses for purchase and would always prefer clients to bring their horses to us for a critical appraisal of their requirements. Our facilities include a 60 x 40m floodlit all weather arena, purpose-built trotting surfaces and fully-equipped examination areas. In this way every aspect of the examination may be performed in a safe and secure site with horses handled by our own trained and experienced staff.
Pre-purchase equine vetting at the client's stable yard
- We appreciate that it may not always be possible to bring a horse into the equine clinic for vetting and provide a comprehensive pre-purchase examination / vetting service at the client's stable yard as an alternative.
