- Nixon Equine Vets is pleased to announce the arrival of our new Dynamic Respiratory Scope. Introductory offer £150 + VAT per horse when examined at the Equine Clinic on our 60 by 40 m all-weather arena.
- 70% of cases of under-performance in the horse are of respiratory origin. The Dynamic Respiratory Scope (DRS) has proven to be revolutionary in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of horses and allows acquisition of images of the equine pharynx and larynx under normal exercise conditions and does not require the use of a high speed treadmill.
- There are multiple conditions that affect the upper respiratory tract of horses, many of which are known to be dynamic in nature, that is that they are more severe or occur only during exercise. Any abnormality in the upper respiratory tract of the horse causes a reduction in the amount of oxygen it receives and can have an adverse effect on performance.
- Now for the first time at Nixon Equine we are able to actually visualise what is going on in the equine larynx of the horse during ridden exercise under standard exercise conditions, this will not only allow us to make a complete accurate diagnosis but just as important is the fact that we can assess various interventions; e.g.nosebands, bits, tongue ties and even wind surgery.
- Previously the gold standard technique for diagnosing these conditions requires high speed treadmill endoscopy but since the launch of the DRS we are now able to visualise the upper airway of the horse without the need for this expensive and often dangerous procedure.

Free Visits- Free visits are offered within 20 miles of the practice (unless you can team up with some friends nearby) for routine procedures only and must be booked at least 5 working days in advance. The visit will be made t some point during the given day, and no preference can be given over AM / PM. We recommend that you phone to book vaccination appointments at least 10 working days before the due date.
- Dental Package £48.50 (inc VAT)
- Our dental package is inclusive of routine rasping and any sedation required. We prefer to perform any dental work at the clinic but we are happy to visit your yard . We must stress that this offer is only for routine rasping. If your horse needs more complex work please phone the clinic between 8-9 am for an estimate.
- Clipping Package £46.0 (inc VAT)
- Bring your horse into the clinic to be sedated while you clip him with your own equipment. This all inclusive price covers sedation, use of facilities and veterinary supervision until your horse travels home.
- Microchip £12.50 (inc VAT)
- We are fortunate enough to be able to offer microchips at the very low price of £12.50 when booked alongside any other visit or treatment with Nixon Equine Vets.

- If you are unfortunate enough to have an accident whilst transporting your horse, it is essential that you have a first aid kit to hand to tide you over until a vet can see the horse. Essential veterinary first aid items are now available to purchase from Nixon Equine Vets. Kits include:
